McLean Spring Hill Rec Center Renovated Bigger and Better

This past Saturday, January 10th, Officials and the public gathered to ceremoniously open the expansion of McLean’s Spring Hill Rec Center. Some of the speakers present were John Faust the Dranesville District’s representative on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, Sharon Bulova the Chair of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, and also the head of McLean Youth Athletics, Joel Stillman, among others.

The expansion of the facility provides much more functionality to the Rec Center. There is now a 2 level strength and resistance training area, multiple multi-purpose/aerobics rooms, 2 basketball courts, and an upper level indoor track. This is all on top of the indoor pool, racquetball, spinning, and multitude of other great activities that were already offered through the Spring Hill Facility.

Residents of the local area should be grateful that this expansion has come to life and is now a completed reality. It was mentioned in one of the speakers talks how this was pushed for and in the zoning plans since the 1980s or 1990s. Yet it did not occur until now due to the realities of the budget.

The new additions and improvements to the rec center were also done with special sustainable construction materials and techniques.
