Servicing The Community
At Agent Knows Homes one of our seven core values is Service – and it’s one that our Lead Agent, Jeff Wu takes very seriously. Whether it’s servicing our community or our clients, being service-minded and understanding the value of quality service is a large part of being on the Agent Knows Homes Team.
Every April and December, Agent Knows Homes works with local Fairfax non-profit Food For Others to donate food to Fairfax area elementary school children on the free lunch program. For most companies this would simply involve writing a check or sending an assistant to purchase and drop off requested items. However, that basic form of service does not meet Agent Knows Homes’ standards – so instead, here’s what happened.
With a goal of creating 600 Power Packs (specific lunch and dinner items that can be easily stored, prepared, and consumed) Jeff spearheaded our team’s effort by mailing 150 flyers inviting folks in the area to participate. He even listed his personal contact info and offered to pick-up items if people were unable to drop-off. In addition to reaching out to tons of people, Jeff and his family made several trips to their local Costco to load up on items for the event.
Since no goal is ever achieved alone, we would like to thank some very special people who made this happen. They include agent Walter Taylor, clients and friends of Agent Knows Homes, groups representing UMD Alumni, The Robert H. Smith School of Business, Penn State and of course everyone at Food For Others.
Only through the combined efforts of those mentioned above can we proudly report that last Sunday morning 90 volunteers showed up and created 608 Power Packs from the nearly 1800lbs of food that was donated specifically for this event!
It’s funny how things work sometimes – how simplicity and dedication can yield powerful results when people work together. The Agent Knows Homes Team is humbled for having the opportunity to provide quality service to the very community it works in. It is also grateful to have done this alongside its clients, friends, and groups from UMD and Penn State.
