Spring has sprung and summer is coming very quickly. That means school will soon be out, and children will be looking for things to do. Agent Knows Homes understands and we have compiled a list of upcoming events in our neighborhoods that will fulfill those requests without breaking the bank.   • PIRATE FEST AT LAKE FAIRFAX PARK – May 02, 2015 – 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM – Visit Website This festival celebrates Virginia’s seafaring past. Join with Ships Company Chanteymen singing traditional sea chanteys, tavern tunes, and pirate ditties. Experience the life of a sailor first hand with our many fun activity stations. Wear your most dashing pirate clothes and enter the costume contest. Learn about global trade in the 18th century, and discover the luxury goods from international ports that compelled pirates to sail the seven seas. Experience Life as a Pirate.
  • ALEXANDRIA MEMORIAL DAY JAZZ FESTIVAL – May 25, 2015 -1:00 PM to 7:00 PM – The annual event features big band, swing, and contemporary jazz music. Picnics are allowed and food and beverages will also be for sale. In case of inclement weather, the festival will be relocated to the Lee Center’s Kauffman Auditorium, 1108 Jefferson St. Admission is free.
  • TASTE OF MERRIFIELDMay 02, 2015 – 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM – Free – Visit Website. A food festival featuring the best of Merrifield with live music and children’s activities throughout the day, as well as a beer garden, local restaurants, and more! Free parking! Tickets will be needed for children’s activities and tastings. Most tastings are between 3-5 tickets, and each ticket is $1.
  • Passport DC– May 01, 2015 – May 31, 2015 (Recurring daily) – Visit Website – Passport DC 2015 is a month long journey around the world highlighting DC’s thriving international diplomatic community and its’ lively, and varied, international culture. Celebrated annually in May, which is International Cultural Awareness Month in Washington, Passport DC is 31 days of programming by 70 embassies and more than 40 of DC’s very best cultural institutions.
