Reston Virginia Water Mine Has Another Grand Opening
Northern Virginia is full of great amenities and recreational activities. The Water Mine is one of those great places to have fun at with friends or family. Right now is a great time to talk about the Water Mine. Being a Water Park it’s a great summer destination. The Water Mine is located at 1400 Lake Fairfax Drive, Reston, VA 22039. It’s easy to get to from Tysons or even parts West in Northern Virginia, as it’s just off of Baron Cameron off of Route 7.
Admission fees for the Water Mine Swimmin’ Hole are =
And Season passes are available at $95 for an Individual or Family of Two for $168 (and $53 for each additional family member).
This past Saturday, August 1st, 2015, the Water Mine had a Grand Opening for a bunch of new water features, slides, and even a new building for the life guards also with a bathroom. Officials were on hand from the Park Authority, contractors who helped build the new features/areas, and also a local politician for the district. And there were some giveaways of prize drawings, hot dogs, water bottles, and chips for attendees of the ceremony. Plus one of the officials who spoke took a ceremonious first ride down one of the new slides after the crowd did a count down.
The new features add in well to the variety of existing Water Features that the park is already known for. The lazy river is a big hit, plus a # of slides for park goers of all sizes and ages. And there is also a volleyball net over one section of the center pool, and an area for adventurous park goers with ropes to hold on to and floating features to balance on. This was fun to watch, and was very American Ninja Warrioresque.
There are also designated areas for eating. So feel free to bring food. Or if you don’t feel like preparing or cooking, there is food for sale as well. From pizza to shaved ice, there are plenty of fun summer eating options.
And tow wow those you know with trivia, or if you’re just curious, it seems that the Water Mine got it’s name from the fact that the original land owner bought the land with the intent to mine for gold. But all they ever found was Water. Hence the name, in honor of this land owner, “Water Mine.”
Regardless of your interest to relax, or be more active in the water, the Water Mine has an option for you. So come and check it out while it’s still hot out!
